You could start a worm farm with just a pair of worms but it might take you a very long time to build up the numbers to get to full production. Instead you can start with around 50 worms per liter of bedding which works out to 250 worms for a small worm farm and 500 for a more substantial worm farm.
When you add your worms to the bedding it is a good idea to add them all in one clump along with a nice supply of food. The worms will get down to business immediately making short work of the rich food supply and as long as you keep it up to them they will do the right thing and turn it into rich compost. At the same time they''ll be making more baby worms to populate the worm farm to the best of their ability.
